Don't take what you read in this thread as a testament to the scene in Boise. This forum attracts a lot of disgruntled people who cruise the net and find a thread like this and then and leave one comment about their sad lives, maybe two comments. It is kind of like when people have a good experience they aren't going to tell anyone, but if they have bad luck they feel the rest of us should know about it. Sage of Sagle. Nah, that couldn't be the case either. It's true, it's really hard to find a normal girlfriend here in Boise. Especially for the over 40 crowd. I married my high school sweetheart, just divorced last year. Originally Posted by Thunderfoot Location: L. Originally Posted by RotseCherut. Gotta go for the college girls in Boise. Due to the strange nature of Boise being the most isolated metro area in the country and the fact that there is not a wide variety of singles, I've noticed there is quite a few relationships with older guys like ourselves who end up with a youngin' Yes, I know we all want someone around our age give or take 10 years and dating the college aged has lots of hangups, but it's the best you got to go on around here.
I am looking forward to moving to a bigger city with a more diverse population so that I can engage in a more active dating life. In Boise, it seems everyone knows who everyone dated, married and slept with and you end up trying to hook up with some town girl Also, I find the Boise area attracts very few something females, instead attracting lo of something males for the tech companies.
Holy cow this thread is still going. I happened upon it in a google search. If you'll notice, I posted a few s back which would have been 3 years ago when I was deciding whether to move to Boise or not. Well, I did. I can now give the inside scoop on the dating scene here. I'm pretty settled and part of the community in Boise, I can tell you all those articles stating Boise is an easy place to meet people aren't so cut and dry. Here's the skinny; The good: It's easy to make friends in Boise.
It's a townsie place. Community is super present. Very nice people. The bad: It's not the Shangri-la some articles make it out to be, for dating and in general. If you're in your 20's, yes. It's a college town. You'll have a blast. Because the fish bowl isn't very big here.
Everyone ends up knowing everyone it feels like, that's good and bad. Literally two degrees of separation. That means people can know your business whether you want them to or not. Unlike Portland, Boise folks like to settle down sooner here, so by one's 30's and 40's the field is a lot slimmer. A sort rule of of thumb is just to assume people are taken first, not the opposite college scene excluded. This is different than bigger cities where who knows if that random person is single or not. I've heard the term 'locking it down' more than once here, and it's true people go for marriage faster in Boise than other places I've seen.
It feels more like a race to settle down than P-town where the concept of the individual reigns supreme.
Ultimately there is a decent scene of single people here, but after a certain amount of time you feel like you've seen everything, and everyone. Aside from people, activities in general start to feel repetitive. I dig this town, but it's also boring sometimes. The heat can be annoying too. Only one person however in three years really got my interest and turned into a deep relationship. That person is very un-Boise-like and not from here original in fact they don't like Boise that much.
Boise is still working on variety and style in all things lol. Take the good with the bad I guess. My 2 cents for people wondering about the dating scene here.
